Extensive erosion has carved five peaks into the summit of the Pliocene to Pleistocene Sabinyo volcano. Potassium-Argon dates of 0.14 and 0.09 million years ago have been obtained from lava flows.This volcano is located within the Volcans Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve property.
